Full Text:
Her Majesty the Queen has asked me to form the new government, and I have accepted. Before I talk about that new government, let me say something about the one that has just past.
Compared with a decade ago, this counecdpUhTztry is more open at home, and more compassionate abroad, and that is something we should all be grateful for. On behalf of the whole country, I’d like to pay tribute to the outgoing Prime Minister, for his long record of dedicated public service.
In terms of the future, our country has a hung parliament when no party has an overall majority, and we have some deep and pressing problems—a huge deficit, deep social problems and a political system in need our reform.
For those reasons, I aim to form a proper and full coalition between the Conservatives and the Liberal Democrats. I believe that is the right way to provide this country with the strong, the stable, the good and decent government that I think we need so badly.
Nick Clegg and I are both political leaders who want to put aside party differences and work hard for the common good and for the national interest. I believe that is the best way to get the strong government that we need, the decisive government that we need today.
I came into politics, because I love this country. I think it’s “Best days still lie ahead”, and I believe deeply in public service, and I think the service our country needs right now is to face up to our really big challenges, to confront our problems, to take difficult decisions, to lead people through the difficult decisions, so that together, we can reach better time ahead.
One of the tasks that we clearly have is to rebuild trust in our political system.
Yes that’s about cleaning up expenses;
Yes that’s about reforming parliament;
Yes it’s about making sure people are in control and that politicians are always their servants, and never their masters.
But I believe it’s also something else.
It’s about being honest about what government can achieve;
没错,这意味着清算费用冗余;
没错,这意味着重组议会;
Real change is not what government can do on its own, real change is when everyone polls together, comes together, works together when we all exercise our responsibilities to ourselves, to our families, to our communities, and to others.
And I want to help trying build a more responsible society here in Britain.
When will we don’t just ask what are my entitlements, but what are my responsibilities;
When will we don’t just ask where what I do just owed, but more what I can give.
And the guide for that society—that those who can should, and those who can’t, we will always help.
I want to make sure that my government always looks after the elderly, the frail, and the poorest in our country. We must take everyone through us, at some of the difficult decisions that we have ahead.
Above all, it will be a government that is built on some clear values— values of freedom, values of fairness, and values of responsibility. I want us to build an economy that rewards work, I want us to build a society with stronger families, stronger communities and I want the political systems to be what people can trust, and look after you once again.
This is going to be hard and difficult work. A coalition will bring us all sort of challenges. I believe together, we can provide that strong, stable government, that our country needs, based on those values, rebuilding family, rebuilding community, and above all, rebuilding responsibility in our country.
Those are the things that I care about.
Those are the things that this government will now start work on doing.
Thank you very much!

Under David’s leadership the government stabilised the economy, reduced the budget deficit and helped more people into work than ever before.
But David’s true legacy is not about the economy but about social justice.
From the introduction of same sex marriage to taking people on low wages搜趣网 out of income tax altogether, David Cameron has led a one nation government and it is in that spirit that I also plan to lead.
Because not everybody knows this but the full title of my party is the Conservative and Unionist Party and that word unionist is very important to me.
It means we believe in the union, the precious, precious bond between England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland - but it means something else that is just as important.
It means we believe in a union not just between the nations of the United Kingdom but between all of our citizens - every one of us - whoever we are and wherever we're from.
That means fighting against the burning injustice that if you're born poor you will die on average nine years earlier than others.
If you're black you are treated more harshly by the criminal justice system than if you're white.
If you're a white working class boy you're less likely than anybody else in Britain to go to university.
If you're at a state school you're less likely to reach the top professions than if you’re educated privately.
如果你在公立学校读书,你将比私立学校的学生拥有更少的机会从事高级职业;
If you're a woman you will earn less than a man.
如果你是女性,你将挣得比男性更少;
If you suffer from mental health problems, there's not enough help to hand.
如果你遭受心理健康问题之苦,你尚未获得足够的帮助;
If you're young you will find it harder than ever before to own your own home.
But the mission to make Britain a country that works for everyone means more than fighting these injustices. If you're from an ordinary working class family, life is much harder than many people in Westminster realise.
You have a job, but you don't always have job security. You have your own home but you worry about paying the mortgage.
You can just about manage, but you worry about the cost of living and getting your kids into a good school.
If you are one of those families, if you're just managing, I want to address you directly. I know you are working around the clock, I know you're doing your best and I know that sometimes life can be a struggle.
The government I lead will be driven, not by the interests of the privileged few搜趣网 but by yours. We will do everything we can to give you more control over your lives.
When we take the big calls we will think not of the powerful, but you. When we pass new laws we will listen not to the mighty, but to you.
When it comes to taxes we will prioritise not the wealthy, but you. When it comes to opportunity we won’t entrench the advantages of the fortunate few, we will do everything we can to help anybody, whatever your background, to go as far as your talents will take you.
We are living through an important moment in our country's history.
Following the referendum, we face a time of great national change. And I know because we're Great Britain we will rise to the challenge.
As we leave the European Union we will forge a bold new positive role for ourselves in the world and we will make Britain a country that works not for a privileged few but for every one of us.
That will be the mission of the government I lead and together we will build a better Britain.
